Acne effects up to 80% of people at some point during their lifetime. For the unfortunate men and women who suffered from cystic acne, facial scarring can be a permanent reminder. Although topical skin care products and medications can improve mild scars, deeper acne scars may require more intensive acne scar theray. Acne scar therapy at GLOW includes:
- Fractional CO2 (Smart Skin) and Fraxel laser resurfacing stimulates collagen production, resulting in a smoother skin texture with improved scar appearance.
- Subcision is a minor procedure used to ‘release’ deeper scar tissue, allowing the depressed or sunken scar to rise up and match the surrounding normal skin.
- Dermal fillers, such as Juvederm or Radiesse, or fat transfer, can be used to fill the volume defect created by scar tissue.
- Surgical excision removes the affected tissue and brings together unscarred, normal skin edges.
