Have you been considering breast augmentation? You are not alone! Breast augmentation is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures available. If you have concerns about small breasts, asymmetry, or volume loss, breast augmentation may be a viable treatment option. The results of this procedure can be extremely satisfying, particularly for you.
Can I come in for a breast augmentation consultation?
Yes. We will be happy to schedule your free, no obligation breast augmentation consultation at your convenience. During the consultation, you will learn more about the procedure, including what to expect before, during, and after breast augmentation. You’ll also meet the Doctor and staff, review before and after photos, and have all of your questions answered. One of the most exciting parts of the consultation is ‘trying on’ various implants to determine which size and shape is best for you. This is the best way to select the implant that will meet your expectations. To get the most out of this sizing step, please bring a sports bra and top or blouse representative of what you would wear after breast augmentation.
It’s important to understand that not everyone is a candidate for breast augmentation. Occasionally, additional or alternative procedures may be required. If this is the case, we’ll discuss your options in detail.
What happens next?
We’ll gladly provide a quotation for your breast augmentation procedure. As always, your consultation is free, and you are under no obligation to receive treatment at GLOW. We always encourage our patients to take as much time as needed to decide if and when to pursue our treatment recommendations.
If you decide to proceed with breast augmentation at GLOW, we’ll need to complete pre-operative work and finalize your procedure date. In some cases, we can do this at the time of your initial consultation, or schedule a later, more convenient, date.
What happens on the day of my procedure?
Once you arrive for your scheduled procedure, we will complete any remaining pre-operative steps, including final measurements and photos. We perform the breast augmentation procedure with a combination of oral pain and sedation medications and local tumescent anesthesia. This method allows us to do the entire procedure without general anesthesia. It is not uncommon to doze off during the procedure, though some patients elect to stay awake and talkative during the procedure. You will be able to sense movement and touch during the procedure, but you will not feel pain.
In most cases, a small incision is made in the lower breast fold, and space for the implant is created under the breasts. This space is often below the chest muscle (sub-pectoral), though the implant is sometimes best positioned above the muscle (sub-glandular). Rest assured; the implant size and position is always agreed upon prior to beginning the procedure, and you will be able to see the implant size and position prior to completion.
The entire procedure takes less than 90 minutes, after which you will rest prior to going home. You will be provided with detailed post-procedure instructions, and your follow up appointment will be scheduled for 1-2 days later. Please note that you will not be able to drive yourself home after your breast augmentation procedure.
What kind of implants will be used?
At GLOW, we use both saline filled and silcone gel implants in a range of sizes and shapes. The most commonly selected implants are in the 325 to 400 cc range, with a broader base. This provides a very natural, satisfying look. Choosing your breast implant type, size and shape is an important decision, and you should take all the time you need to make this selection. We’ll be here to help you through this process, in any way we can.

What will my recovery be like?
Due to the local tumescent anesthesia we use, your breasts will be numb for some hours immediately after your procedure. As this anesthesia wears off, you will need to take the prescription pain medicine we prescribed for you. This medicine may be required for 1-3 days after your procedure. At your first post-op visit (1-2 days later), we will remove your dressings and provide recovery garments for your use. You will then be able to shower and begin resuming many of your normal activities. Your return to work, exercise and more strenuous physical activity will depend upon your personal situation. In general, you should be able to return to work in 4-5 days, and begin some exercise within 7-10 days.
